Here are the general steps for creating a club:
Step 1: Get Started
Familiarize Yourself with Requirements: Understand the process and requirements for starting a new club at your school.
Identify an Advisor: Find a teacher or administrator to oversee club activities and provide guidance.
Step 2: Form Your Team
Elect Club Officers: Select key roles such as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Social Media Manager.
Step 3: Plan, Promote, and Advertise
Review Requirements: Go over the club’s requirements with your advisor and leadership team.
Advertise Your Club: Create posters, flyers, and social media posts to attract students. Highlight the benefits of joining and the exciting events ahead.
Host an Introductory Meeting: Plan a meeting to introduce the club and its goals to interested students.
Step 4: Affiliate Your Club and Gain Access to TLM Club Resources (Meeting Ideas)
Submit Affiliation Application: Complete and submit the necessary information to apply for affiliation with Teen Lifestyle Medicine.
Administer Surveys: Conduct mandatory TLM-provided surveys at the start and end of the club year for all members. This is to help us identify successes and ways to improve.
Attend Leadership Webinars: Club Presidents must attend at least one leadership webinar per semester to connect with other clubs (other officers are welcome to join as well).
Step 5: Organize Events
Plan Events: Schedule activities such as guest lectures, exercise sessions, charity walks/runs, yoga classes, and more. Search TLM’s library of meeting ideas for inspiration (you will have access once you gain affiliation status).
Promote Events: Use social media, school announcements, and flyers to spread the word and encourage participation.
Take Attendance: Keep track of meeting participants and collect their email addresses for updates.
Step 6: Build Community
Engage Members: Send regular newsletters and updates to keep members informed and engaged.
Collaborate with Other Clubs: Partner with other school clubs for joint events and activities to broaden your impact.
Celebrate Achievements: Recognize and celebrate your club’s accomplishments to strengthen the sense of community.
